In Year Admissions

Although we are a popular school, places do occasionally become available in year groups as families move.

Our current PAN for the academic year 2025/26 is as follows:

• Reception - 60
• Year 1 - 30
• Year 2 - 60
• Year 3 - 60
• Year 4 - 60
• Year 5 - 60
• Year 6 - 90

Please note, some of our year group PANs have been reduced. We have reduced our PAN to maintain a specific number of classes of an appropriate size. This number of classes reflects our available resources.

We understand that applying for school places can sometimes be a daunting prospect.  We would love to show prospective parents around our lovely school, so if you are interested in joining us in year, please contact the school office to make an appointment on 0117 377 2610. 

How to apply for an in-year place

Cotham Gardens Primary School is an single academy trust. You can find a copy of our Admissions Policy here.

UK residents need to apply 6 weeks before your change of address if you are moving to Bristol and need a school place.

Applications on behalf of children currently living outside the UK will not normally be considered until the children are resident in the country. Exceptions to this might be instances where the children are of parents returning from foreign postings, such as service personnel, Crown Servants, and Diplomats.

To apply for a place at our school please take the following steps:

• Check what year group your child would be attending here.
• Complete an In-Year transfer form by clicking here.

You may be asked to provide documentary evidence to confirm your home address or a sibling link.

What happens next?

New in-year applications are reviewed on a weekly basis. We will let you know the outcome of your in-year school application within 5 school days from the date we receive the application. 

If we are able to offer a place, you will be sent further documents to complete, before we are able to arrange a start date for your child. 

If your child has SEN or if you would like to discuss SEN provision at our school, please let the office know, and we will arrange for our SEND team to reach out to you.
