MESSAGE FROM THE HEAD OF SCHOOL
I would like to thank everyone for their understanding and support during this week’s exceptionally hot weather. The decision to close the school for two days was not taken lightly, but the wellbeing and safety of our children and staff had to remain our highest priority.
Next week promises to be another busy and exciting one. We are looking forward to welcoming our Ofsted inspection team back into school. Our children and staff have worked incredibly hard throughout the year, and we are proud of all they have accomplished. There are also plenty of exciting enrichment activities taking place across the school:
- Upper Key Stage 2 Sports Day
- Year 3 Bristol Museum Egyptians topic trip
- Key Stage 1 scooter skills workshops with Active Travel
- Year 6 children transition days at their various secondary schools
The Y2/3/4 sports day has been confirmed for Monday 13th July and Reception and Year 1 have their sports day, as planned, on Wednesday 8th July.
Finally, please take a look at our short promotional video on the front page of the website 😊 https://www.cothamgardens.co.uk/
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. Have a wonderful weekend.
Emmeline Smith

SUMMER TERM READING CHALLENGE!
We have some exciting news to share!
Thanks to the generosity of our wonderful PTAF, this week we launched a Summer Reading Challenge to give independent reading a real boost as we approach the end of the school year.
The idea is simple and very similar to our sponsored read. Each time your child reads three or more times in a week, they will earn one raffle ticket. These tickets will be entered into a prize draw, and at the end of term we will celebrate with a special assembly where names are drawn and book prizes or book tokens are awarded to our lucky winners. There will be prizes for each year group!
How can you help?
- Encourage your child to read at least three times each week (this could be independently or with you).
- Ensure your child brings in their book bag and reading record to be checked by their teacher
- Help them stay motivated by talking about what they are reading and celebrating their efforts.
We are hoping this will create a real buzz around reading across the school and keep children inspired right through to the summer holidays!
Thank you, as always, for your support.
Best wishes,
Mr Brett
