Find support at www.gov.uk/domestic-abuse -including in different languages- or call 999 if you are in immediate danger. (You can also press 55 when calling 999 if you can’t talk.)

You can also Call the National Domestic Abuse Helpline for free and confidential advice, 24 hours a day on 0808 2000 247.

BRISTOL IDEAL 

Our school is working towards the Bristol Ideal award. The Bristol Ideal award is part of the Bristol Healthy Schools Award and is a set of standards for schools to follow to:

• tackle domestic and sexual violence in Bristol
• promote healthy relationships, respect and gender equality

The Bristol Ideal is a citywide project, which aims to promote healthy relationships and prevent domestic and sexual violence through encouraging a ‘whole-school approach’ towards these issues. You can find out more here:

Our school has a culture which promotes healthy relationships, respect between pupils and respect for diversity, gender and sexuality equality. We want to protect and nurture this distinctive ethos. We also feel that it is important to raise awareness and try to tackle domestic abuse because:

• 1 in 5 children in the UK have been exposed to domestic violence (NSPCC.org.uk)
• children who witness domestic violence may have impaired educational attainment and struggle with self-esteem and forming relationships (Byrne and Taylor, 2007)

We take a zero tolerance approach to:

• all forms of gender based violence, abuse, harassment and exploitation across the whole school population.
• This includes sexual harassment, sexual bullying, sexism and homophobia
