Welcome to Year 4
Hi everyone and welcome to our new look year 4 page. It has been great to see the children so excited about their return to school and we would like to reassure you that the children have settled in and adapted well to school life again in these strange times.
On this page you can find information on our current learning for the term and other useful information.

Home learning in Year 4 consists of reading, spellings, maths and topic
Children should aim to read at home for at least 10 minutes every day (please record this in your child's reading record which will be issued soon). It is important that what your child is reading is discussed so that they have a better understanding of the text.
For suggested reading in Year 4, see the following link:
Spellings will be sent home every Friday to be tested in class the following Friday. Spellings will also be uploaded to every child's Class Dojo portfolio, so they can be accessed from home.
The first spelling list will be issued on Friday 25th September and the first test will be on Friday 2nd October.
MyMaths homework will be set online every Friday to be completed by the following Friday.
Letters will be going home soon with details of how to access MyMaths online with passwords. Please speak to the class teacher if there are any problems accessing homework online.
A topic based homework will be set each week on Class Dojo. Please make sure you are checking this regularly so your child can take part in the home learning activities.
Literacy and Numeracy
This term we will be exploring a story based on recycling and the main character's dream for a better world. We don't want to give away any more about this story so that the children can discover the book together.
This term we are reinforcing our learning of place value and extending our knowledge of number to include 1000's.
Throughout our numeracy learning we will use our problem solving skills to apply our knowledge to a variety of contexts including real life problems.
At the end of year 4 children will be assessed on times table facts up to the 12 x table.
This term we shall be focussing on the 4 and 6 x table and will be refreshing our knowledge of 2s, 3s, 5s and 10s.
Any support that you can give your children at home with this would be wonderful.
