Coronavirus Covid-19 and school opening

Staff of Cotham Gardens Primary have been working hard to look after the children of key workers and vulnerable children and providing remote learning for all pupils as directed by the government on Friday 20th March 2020 in response to the Coronavirus Covid-19 outbreak in the UK.

On 28th May 2020 the government confirmed a new directive for schools to re-open more widely as they begin to ease the lockdown considering it now safe to do this. Governors approved the school's wider re-opening plans on Thursday 4th June. The plans are based upon a robust risk assessment as per government guidance, and the school will re-open to more widely in line with government guidelines on Monday 15th June 2020. Letters outlining details for this have been sent to parents and carers from school. Please contact the school office if you have further questions.

Governors would like to extend thanks to everyone in the school community for the mutual support and understanding which has characterised, and continues to characterise the school's journey through these testing times.

We wish our whole community well as we rebuild school life together.

Would you like to be a governor?

Current governor vacancies:

  • 1 staff governor

We are always looking for suitable candidates for succession planning since governing terms are just 4 years. So, if you are interested in finding out more about governing at our school do be in touch. With good and valuable community representation from our immediate community we are particularly interested in talking to prospective governors from outside of our immediate community.

We need people with relevant skills, experience and an interest in making a difference to education at large and more specifically school improvement for our school.

Having some governors with an objective distance from our school community is key for some of the functions required of the governing body and also helps provide the right balance for governor discussions and decisions.

For further information and expressions of interest please contact the clerk on governors@cothamgardens.co.uk in the first instance

Strategic Vision 2020-2025

Our 5 year strategic vision was drawn up further to consultation with school staff, the co-op forum, and governor analysis of the school's current ofsted appraisal from September 2017 and in-school evaluation during the academic year 2018/19.

The vision is made up of four overarching strategic objectives in the context of our school vision statement which outlines our inclusive ethos of 'Celebrating Diversity, Learning Together', as well as current local and national educational priorities.

Here they are:

  • to provide an inspiring teaching and learning experiences for all pupils
  • to ensure everyone is treated equally and has equity of opportunity
  • to create a cohesive and outward looking community which prepares pupils for their future
  • to provide a healthy, nurturing environment where the whole community can flourish

The annual school development plans will be regularly reviewed against these overarching objectives. A further review of our strategic vision will be carried out in 2025.

You can see the strategic vision in full including details about how we plan to measure and evaluate our progress here
