Cotham Gardens Primary School

A Co-operative Academy

Governors

Cotham Gardens Primary is a Co-operative Academy Trust and the governors are also the Academy Trust Trustees

The purpose of governance is to provide confident, strategic leadership and to create robust accountability oversight and assurance for educational and financial performance.

The 3 core functions of the governing board are:

  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
  • Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the performance management of staff
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent

Current Governor Project: 5 year strategic vision

Thank you if you took part in our opinions survey for all stakeholders.  The survey was designed by our strategy working group working with the co-op forum. It was available to complete over three weeks. 102 participants across the community completed the survey.

The results of the survey were central to governor discussions during our March meeting, the outcomes of which are being incorporated into the wider 3-5 year strategic vision project.

An overview of the survey outcomes can be viewed here.

Detailed survey outcomes can be viewed here.

Would you like to be a governor?

Current governor vacancies:

  • 1 staff governor

We are always looking for suitable candidates for succession planning since governing terms are just 4 years. So, if you are interested in finding out more about governing at our school do be in touch. With good and valuable community representation from our immediate community we are particularly interested in talking to prospective governors from outside of our immediate community.

We need people with relevant skills, experience and an interest in making a difference to education at large and more specifically school improvement for our school.

Having some governors with an objective distance from our school community is key for some of the functions required of the governing body and also helps provide the right balance for governor discussions and decisions.

For further information and expressions of interest please contact the clerk on governors@cothamgardens.co.uk in the first instance
